Supported platforms, formats and limits

Last updated: 2026-10-19

VidFinch is a free web tool that downloads videos, photos and GIFs from public posts on X (Twitter), Threads, Pinterest, Bluesky, LinkedIn and Snapchat Spotlight. It needs no account and no app. It does not download private content, YouTube, Instagram, TikTok or Facebook.

What each platform supports

Platform	Videos	Photos	GIFs	Carousels	Best quality

Link formats that work

X (Twitter)	Share icon under the post → Copy link	x.com/user/status/1234…
Threads	Share (paper-plane icon) → Copy link	threads.com/@user/post/C9x…
Pinterest	Share → Copy link	pin.it/AbC… or pinterest.com/pin/1234…
Bluesky	Share → Copy link to post	bsky.app/profile/name/post/3k…
LinkedIn	“…” on the post → Copy link to post	linkedin.com/posts/…-activity-1234…
Snapchat	Share on a Spotlight → Copy link	snapchat.com/spotlight/… or t.snapchat.com/…

What is not supported, and why

Private content (protected accounts, connections-only posts, private snaps): we never log in to accounts.
YouTube: not offered.
Instagram, TikTok and Facebook: not on this site.
Reddit: coming. Reddit stores video and sound as separate files, and we want to give you one file with sound.
Live streams, X Spaces, LinkedIn Learning and paid content.

How VidFinch works

VidFinch reads the same public data the platform shows to a logged-out visitor, finds the media file, and streams it to you with a normal download. Files are not stored on our servers, and we don’t keep a history of links.

Every downloader is tested automatically once a day, so when a platform changes something we know the same day.

Questions

Is VidFinch free?

Yes. There is no account, no subscription and no limit for normal use.

Does VidFinch add a watermark?

No. You get the file as the platform serves it.

Is it safe?

There is nothing to install, no pop-ups and no fake buttons. Downloads come from the platforms’ own servers.
