To download a Bluesky video: open the post, tap Share (the arrow icon) → Copy link to post, paste the link in the box above and press Download. You get the original MP4 that was uploaded, with sound. Photos and GIFs in the post work the same way. No account is needed.
How to download
- Open the post in the Bluesky app or on bsky.app.
- Tap Share → “Copy link to post”.
- Paste the link above and press Download.
- Tap “Download video” (or image / GIF). On iPhone the file goes to Files → Downloads.
Why use it
- The original MP4
- We fetch the file the author uploaded, so you get one clean MP4 with sound, not a stream recording.
- Photos in full size
- Posts with up to 4 images: each one downloads separately, at full resolution.
- GIFs too
- GIFs shared on Bluesky (from Tenor) download as real .gif files.
- Official API
- We use Bluesky’s public API, the same data the app shows to logged-out visitors.
Supported formats
| Content | Format | Quality |
|---|---|---|
| Video | MP4 (sometimes MOV/WebM, as uploaded) | Original upload, with audio |

| GIF | GIF | Original size |
Questions
Can I download Bluesky videos without an account?
Yes. You only need the post link. The video comes from Bluesky’s public data, so you don’t log in anywhere.
Why is the downloaded video in MP4?
Bluesky plays videos as a stream, but it also keeps the file the author uploaded. We give you that file, which is almost always MP4.
Does it work with quote posts?
Yes, if the quote post has its own video or images. Media inside the quoted post is not included: open that post and use its own link.
Why does it say “author chose not to show their posts”?
Some people turn on a Bluesky setting that hides their posts from logged-out visitors. We respect that setting and don’t download those posts.
Where do downloads go on iPhone?
In the Files app, under Downloads. To move a video to Photos, open it in Files, tap Share, then Save Video.
Is downloading Bluesky videos legal?
Saving for personal viewing is generally fine. Reposting or using someone’s video commercially needs their permission. Always credit the creator.
