Twitter GIF Downloader

Paste a link to an X (Twitter) post with a GIF and save it as a real GIF file, or as MP4.

To download a GIF from X (Twitter): copy the post link (Share → Copy link), paste it into VidFinch and tap Download, then tap Download GIF. X stores GIFs as short MP4 videos, so VidFinch turns the MP4 into a real animated .gif in your browser. You can also keep the MP4, which is smaller.

How to download

  1. On X, open the post with the GIF and tap Share → Copy link.
  2. Paste the link above and tap Download.
  3. Tap Download GIF for a real .gif file, or MP4 for the original video.
  4. On iPhone, open the Files app → Downloads to find the file.

Questions

Why does X save GIFs as MP4?

X converts every uploaded GIF into a short silent MP4 loop because video files are much smaller. VidFinch turns that MP4 back into a GIF when you tap Download GIF.

GIF or MP4: which should I pick?

Pick GIF for forums, Slack, Discord or anywhere that expects a .gif file. Pick MP4 for WhatsApp or Telegram, or to keep the best quality at a smaller size.

Can I download GIFs from private accounts?

No. Only GIFs in public posts can be downloaded.

Where does the GIF go on my iPhone?

Into the Files app → Downloads. Open it there and tap Share → Save Image to add it to Photos.

Is it free?

Yes, free, with no account.
