X (Twitter) video downloader not working: causes and fixes

Most X downloads fail for one of four reasons: the account is protected (private), the post was deleted, the post is age-restricted, or the link points to a profile instead of a post. Open the link in a private window without logging in: if you can’t see the video there, it can’t be downloaded.

General checks
- Copy the link of the post itself, not of the profile, the board or the home feed.
- Paste the whole link. Extra text around it is fine: the tool finds the link.
- Make sure the post is public: open it in a private browser window without logging in. If you can’t see it there, no downloader can.
- Seeing “Too many requests”? Wait one minute and try again.
- If the post loads but the download button does nothing on iPhone, check Files → Downloads: the file is often already there.
Quoted posts and replies
If the video is inside a quoted post, open the quoted post (tap on it) and copy that link. The same goes for a video posted as a reply: open the reply first.
Questions
Can I download from a private (protected) X account?
No. Protected posts are only visible to approved followers, and we never log in to accounts.
Why is the quality lower than expected?
We always take the highest bitrate X stores. If the uploader posted a low-resolution video, that’s the best version that exists.
Do old twitter.com links still work?
Yes. twitter.com, mobile.twitter.com and x.com links all work.
