LinkedIn video downloader not working: causes and fixes

Last updated:

LinkedIn downloads fail mostly because the post is visible to connections only, or LinkedIn asks for a login to view it. Only public posts can be downloaded. Document (PDF) carousels, articles and LinkedIn Learning courses aren’t supported. Use “Copy link to post” from the “…” menu to get the right link.

Causes and fixes

What you seeWhyWhat to do
“Post not found”Connections-only post, deleted post, or LinkedIn showing a login wall.Only public posts work. Ask the author for the file if needed.
“Doesn’t look like a post link”Profile, company page or article link.Use “…” → Copy link to post. It looks like linkedin.com/posts/… or /feed/update/urn:li:activity:….
“No video, image or GIF”Text post, document (PDF) carousel, or poll.Documents and polls aren’t media files.
Only one imageMulti-image posts give the first image for now.Videos are fully supported.
LinkedIn LearningPaid course content behind a login. Not supported, on purpose.

General checks

  • Copy the link of the post itself, not of the profile, the board or the home feed.
  • Paste the whole link. Extra text around it is fine: the tool finds the link.
  • Make sure the post is public: open it in a private browser window without logging in. If you can’t see it there, no downloader can.
  • Seeing “Too many requests”? Wait one minute and try again.
  • If the post loads but the download button does nothing on iPhone, check Files → Downloads: the file is often already there.

Questions

Does the author see that I downloaded their video?

No notification is sent. Still, ask before reusing someone’s video and credit them.
