Snapchat Spotlight downloader not working: causes and fixes
Last updated:
Only public Spotlight videos can be downloaded. If the link points to a story, a profile or a private snap, it won’t work. Open the Spotlight video itself, tap Share → Copy link, and paste that link. A t.snapchat.com short link is fine as long as it opens a Spotlight.
Causes and fixes
| What you see | Why | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| “Post not found” | The link is a profile or story, or the Spotlight was removed. | Open the Spotlight video and copy its own link. |
| Private snaps / chats | Never public. | Not supported, on purpose. |
| Worked yesterday, fails today | Snapchat changes its pages from time to time. | Our daily check catches it; try again later. |
General checks
- Copy the link of the post itself, not of the profile, the board or the home feed.
- Paste the whole link. Extra text around it is fine: the tool finds the link.
- Make sure the post is public: open it in a private browser window without logging in. If you can’t see it there, no downloader can.
- Seeing “Too many requests”? Wait one minute and try again.
- If the post loads but the download button does nothing on iPhone, check Files → Downloads: the file is often already there.
Questions
Can I download someone’s story?
No. Only public Spotlight videos, which anyone can watch on snapchat.com.
Is the video watermarked?
You get the file Snapchat serves on its website, with nothing added by us.
