Threads video downloader not working: causes and fixes
Last updated:
A Threads download usually fails because the profile is private, the post was deleted, or Threads is asking visitors to log in for that post. Also check that you copied a Threads link (threads.com/@user/post/…) and not an Instagram link. If the post opens in a private window without logging in, it should download.
Causes and fixes
| What you see | Why | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| “Post not found” | Deleted post, private profile, or a login wall on that post. | Only public posts work. Try again later if the post is public. |
| “Doesn’t look like a post link” | You copied an Instagram link or a profile link. | In Threads, tap Share → Copy link on the post itself. |
| “No video, image or GIF” | Text-only post, or the media is in a reply. | Open the reply that has the video and copy its link. |
| Only some carousel items | Each slide is listed separately. | Scroll the result: every photo and video has its own button. |
| Worked yesterday, fails today | Meta changes the Threads page often. | Our daily check catches this; we fix it quickly. Try again later. |
General checks
- Copy the link of the post itself, not of the profile, the board or the home feed.
- Paste the whole link. Extra text around it is fine: the tool finds the link.
- Make sure the post is public: open it in a private browser window without logging in. If you can’t see it there, no downloader can.
- Seeing “Too many requests”? Wait one minute and try again.
- If the post loads but the download button does nothing on iPhone, check Files → Downloads: the file is often already there.
